The punchline should have been wine gums; that way it would have been really funny coz the Ernie would have been begging Eric to give him one!

Absoloutley fantastic, Funny jokes, But it was the visual stuff i.e. facial expressions, movements and timing that made these two really great.

Back then, two men sharing a bed was surrealism. Now, two men sharing a flat with separate bedrooms is just assumed to be sexual. But something would have cracked the sexlessness of the scene - if Eric hadn't worn his spectacles to bed. Imagine him without them in the sketch - less absurd, less surreal, less easy to avoid thoughts of teh ghey.

i know it's sad that the world now would freak out and laugh and be silly about to guys in bed, back then it wouldn't of bothered anyone :(

@moosey62 From the way you write, were you actually old enough to watch M&W at their prime. I don`t like Maggie either, but lots of people in showbusiness did support her in the early days.Eric and Ernie generally managed to keep out of politics.

@moosey62 Fuck off Eric was a national treasure and the shows were pure golden comedy so just fuck off |
